Who we are
miGRIND (migrind.com) is an AI basketball mentor for athletes and a coaching platform for programs, operated from Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and your rights. We follow Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA) as our baseline everywhere.
What we collect
Account & profile: name, email, birthdate, and the athletic profile you fill in (height, weight, position, level, school, teams, region, training access, injury history, dietary constraints). Activity: goals, training plans, daily check-ins (activity, energy, mood, short journal notes), logged workout results, and strength numbers a coach records. Mentor conversations: what you write to the AI mentor, used to personalize its guidance. For minors: a parent/guardian name and email, collected solely to request consent. Push notifications: if you install the iOS or Android app and allow notifications, we store the device token your phone's operating system issues, so we can send that device reminders and your daily focus. It identifies a device, not you personally, it is never used for advertising or tracking, and it is deleted when you turn notifications off or delete your account. Payments: handled entirely by Stripe - we never see or store card numbers.
How we use it
One purpose: running the service. Your data personalizes your mentor's guidance, builds your plans, and powers your progress tracking. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it for advertising. Ever.
Who can see what
Your mentor conversations and anything you write in your journal are private to you. Coaches can never read them - this is enforced in our database permissions, not just the interface. If you join a team and grant consent, that team's coaches can see your goals, training plans, logged workouts, and your daily check-in ratings(energy, soreness, mood, sleep as numbers) - never the words you wrote alongside them. You (or your parent/guardian, for minors) can revoke that consent at any time. Parents/guardians of minors get a read-only activity overview (counts and dates - never your words). Safety alerts sent to parents describe a category of concern, never the content of what was written.
Minors
Athletes under 18 need consent before the mentor starts: either a parent/guardian approves via an emailed consent link, or their basketball program carries consent through its season registration paperwork. Minors get stricter, age-appropriate AI guidance. If consent is revoked, the account is re-locked until consent is granted again.
AI, and its limits
Mentor and coach responses are generated by AI (Anthropic's Claude). Your messages and relevant profile context are sent to Anthropic to generate each response; Anthropic does not train its models on this data under the API terms we use. AI guidance is not medical, legal, or financial advice - the mentor is designed to route those topics to real professionals.
Where your data lives
Data is stored with Supabase (database and authentication) and served via Vercel (hosting). Emails are delivered by Resend. Payments run on Stripe. Each processes data only to provide their service to us. Servers may be located outside Canada (primarily the United States).
Your rights
You can see and edit your profile in the app. You can export or ask questions about your data by emailing us. You can delete your account yourself in Profile → Account → Delete my account - it permanently removes your account, profile, goals, plans, journal, chats, and team links, and immediately cancels any subscription. Parents/guardians of minors can contact us to exercise these rights on their child's behalf.
Retention & changes
We keep your data while your account exists and delete it when you delete your account. If this policy changes materially, we'll note the new date above and, for significant changes affecting minors, notify by email. Questions or complaints: migrindsports@gmail.com.
